During 2021 we accompanied

1200 families

Our programs

Our programs are mainly aimed to:
Ensure the adequate nutrition and comprehensive development of children from 0 to 5 years old.
Accompany, train and empower women and mothers since their pregnancy onwards.
Strengthen families and communities.
The families that participate in Haciendo Camino’s programs receive personalized assistance that allows them to identify risk factors affecting their children, as well as strengths and family resources that can be mobilized in order to achieve their objectives. The integral approach of our programs guides the planning interventions to co-create effective solutions that respond to the problems that affect families in situations of social vulnerability within Santiago del Estero and Chaco.

Nutrition

Nutrition Program

We work on malnutrition diagnosis and prevention as well as nutritional recovery of children aged 0 to 5 years old. We follow the CONIN methodology, which sets forth a comprehensive approach to the social problems leading to malnutrition.

We have interdisciplinary teams of professionals specialized in pediatrics, nutrition, and early stimulation, as well as social workers, professors of trades and skills, health educators and kindergarten teachers, offering treatment, care and support to mothers and children.

Mothers participate weekly in health education talks and training workshops in trades.

Kids receive nutritional control and early stimulation, and participate in recreational and educational activities in our kindergarten rooms. Nutritional and social surveys are carried out in kindergartens, dining sectors, and rural areas in all surrounding areas in order to detect and identify children that require treatment.

Treated children are given milk which is often individually specialized to include necessary vitamins according to each child’s nutritional requirements.

Early Home Education Program

Early Home Education Program

The program is intended to accompany families with a positive upbringing of their children, promoting learning movements through play and strengthening the bond between parents and caregivers and their children. It promotes cognitive, social-emotional, and physical development in children aged 0-3, based on activities focused on fine and coarse motor skills, language development, and personal-social skills.
This dynamic is implemented by trained community members who make biweekly visits to homes. There, they train and deliver to parents the corresponding material to work on with their children

Pregnancy

Pregnancy Program

We accompany pregnant women living in social risk conditions, and promote the care and development of mother-child relations from pregnancy. Pregnant women are monitored by professionals and participate in maternity preparation talks. In addition, the Centers organize workshops where pregnant women make clothes, toys, or accessories for their babies.
Preemptive activities during pregnancy significantly decrease the risk of low birthweight babies, prevent malnutrition and illnesses caused by lack of knowledge, and avoid social complications stemming from the failure to establish the mother-child bond.

Trade Skills

Trade Skills Program

We offer mothers in vulnerable families training courses which involve crafts, sewing, weaving, knitting, gastronomy, carpentry, iron works and hairdressing. Additionally, the association seeks to train mothers as entrepreneurs and partner with them in the marketing of their products, so that these trades can become the means of self-support for their homes.
Likewise, these mothers participate in health education, and their children under 5 years of age, receive periodic nutritional checks.

Children

Children Program

The Shelter

We have a transit home in the city of Añatuya, which houses children between 0 and 18 years who are in various situations of social risk. Here, necessities such as food, clothing, housing, education, health, and recreational play are covered for children. The home also has school support classes, organized recreational workshops, trips, and pedagogical proposals so that children can display their natural talents.

Mother’s House

In the city of Añatuya we also have a house designated for mothers and their children who have had to leave their homes due to various situations of violence or high social risk.

Primary Education Space “Los Juries”

In collaboration with the Ministry of Social Development of the Nation, we founded a care center for children between 45 days and 4 years of age in the city of Los Juries in the Santiago del Estero province. This space provides care and development for children at early stages in their lives such as nutritional care, early stimulation activities, parenting workshops, and family accompaniment.

Health

Health Program

A group of volunteer doctors travels regularly to our Centers in order to take preemptive and recovery action through the early detection of diseases, the proper treatment and the promotion of healthy habits. Several specialists in medicine, pediatrics, gynecology, otorhinolaryngology, traumatology, family medicine and ophthalmology offer medical assistance and teaching.
